Empower Her Wellness is a web app supporting women’s health (UN SDG #5) by providing location-based recommendations for nearby medical and wellness facilities. Using AWS Services like Lambda, S3, and CloudWatch alongside Google APIs, it ensures a seamless experience for accessing information about essential healthcare resources and professional advice.

The Empower Her Wellness project progressed through several key stages: planning, design, development, and deployment. Initially, we identified that the UN Website can be improved by giving more information on “basic reproductive health” like menstruation or vaccination. We identified APIs to be utilised at the backend, and designed a user-friendly front-end interface, with essential AWS services. Development involved coding with Python and JSON, using AWS Cloud9 for coding, and implementing Lambda functions for processing location-based healthcare queries. Finally, API Gateway was deployed for routing and S3 for data storage. Github supported version control and collaboration, while CloudWatch monitored application performance.
The web app project successfully delivered a location-based health resource app for women, showing good initial website performance, accessibility, and simplicity. Limitations include scope constraints, utilising only free AWS services, and the need to work with professionals in refining the questions, and offering more resources.
Empower Her Wellness effectively provides a directory and space for women’s health information by providing location-specific resources, promoting proactive health care, and supporting UN SDG #5. The project leveraged AWS services for scalability, security, with potential future enhancements on usability, security, and partnerships with NFPs or brands who share the same advocacy.
