Planet Protectors

Planet Protectors
By Ananya Sharma & Abera Satjajith

Planet Protectors is a game designed to educate younger audiences on climate action and sustainable practices through interactive gameplay. The game addresses the problem of environmental degradation by encouraging players to complete small but impactful actions—cleaning up waste, recycling, and reducing fuel use—as part of their journey.

We developed Planet Protectors in three stages, each representing an SDG-related activity. Level one focuses on waste collection, level two on recycling education, and level three on promoting low-emission transportation. We used Scratch to design and code the game and conducted research on sustainable practices to create realistic and engaging scenarios. Visual and gameplay elements were tailored to make sustainability approachable and relatable for young players, using animation, sound design, and feedback mechanics to reinforce positive actions.

Planet Protectors effectively raises awareness of climate issues in an accessible way, allowing younger players to experience the impact of small actions. The project was completed successfully, though adding more levels could further enhance its educational scope.

Planet Protectors highlights the importance of individual actions in combating climate change. Through this project, we learned how impactful games can be in education, making complex issues understandable and actionable for young audiences.
