Ocean Defender: Save the Seas

In this game, players control an underwater robot dedicated to exploring and protecting marine ecosystems. They clean up pollution, rescue endangered species, and monitor coral health while navigating challenges like oil spills and ghost nets. As they progress, players upgrade their robot with tools to tackle increasingly complex missions. With a strong focus on marine conservation, the game educates players on pollution’s impact and promotes environmental stewardship, supporting the UN’s Life Below Water sustainable development goal.

Our project development involved a structured approach to bring “Ocean Defender: Save the Seas” to life. Beginning with brainstorming and concept design, we created a mood board to shape the visual and thematic elements. As the graphic designer, I designed characters, backgrounds, and interface elements to enhance player immersion. Using graphic design software, our team incorporated educational mechanics aligned with SDG 14, allowing players to simulate real-world marine conservation tasks. With each completed mission, players gain awareness of ocean health challenges, fostering a deeper understanding of marine ecosystems and pollution’s impacts.
The project successfully delivered an engaging game that educates players on marine conservation. Players gain insights into ocean pollution and endangered species. A limitation was time constraints, which limited additional feature development. Overall, the project met its objectives and was well-received.

This project highlights the importance of environmental stewardship, reinforcing the impact of pollution on marine life. We learned effective teamwork, game design basics, and the power of interactive learning in raising awareness of sustainable practices, supporting UN SDG 14 goals.
